2026 Food Writers at Camont
Inspiration in the 18th-Century Kitchen at Camont
“2026 Food Writers at Camont” is a special invitation to those in the culinary arts to work, cook, research, write, photograph, style, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Kate Hill’s 18th-century Gascon kitchen. Honoring Camont’s early years as a cooking school and her own kitchen studio, Kate Hill hosts a month-long celebration of the culinary arts at Camont each year in May.
Food Writers at Camont Residencies are for those seeking a relaxed, individual-paced work environment in an inspiring culinary setting in Southwest France—featuring a working kitchen, potager garden, multiple French markets, and neighboring farms. Food Writers and Photographers can work at their own pace on individual projects (book, research, articles, curriculum, etc.) while sharing common culinary social space and time in the kitchen, salon, studio, and gardens of Camont with up to three other residents.
Each resident takes a turn to cook a family meal once during the week and works with others to shop and help develop recipes as needed. Residents also cook for themselves and together in the common kitchen; these impromptu shared meals are one of the highlights of the week.
